The armored car Number 1 was based on the Jeffery Quad truck chassis. This was a 4-wheel drive vehicle that also featured 4-wheel steering and dual controls at the front and rear of the vehicle. The rear driver may not have been able to perform gear changes, however. The vehicle had two turrets, one on the roof and one behind the cab which had part of its traverse fouled by the front of the vehicle. Two spare machine guns were carried.
