Standardized in March 1963, the M132 was an M113 APC modified into a mobile flame thrower. The machine gun cupola was replaced with the the M8 cupola group which housed the flame gun, and the passenger compartment was taken up by the M10 fuel and pressure unit, which consisted of four 50-gallon (190L) spherical flame fuel tanks, each of which was topped by a spherical compressed air tank. The passenger seats and passenger compartment floor panels were omitted. The 200 gallons (760L) of flame fuel enabled the vehicle to fire for 32 seconds at a range of up to 200m (650'). The fuel used for the flame gun was gasoline mixed with M1 or M4 thickeners.
