The armor added to the cab of the base cargo carrier M548 gives the machine a more rugged appearance. The thickened glass over the windshields and headlights are obvious. The .50cal machine gun ring mount was able to be fitted, but is not installed on this machine.

The bolted construction of the armor can be seen, and the cab doors were provided with armor glass as well.

The winch was protected by a hinged flap, and footman loops were attached to a plate atop the frontal armor.
